What did I learn for Anthony Capps?
In the video "Project Based Learning Pt. 1," I learned that projects can be used to learn rather than used for testing. Projects are great for testing but also good for learning new things. According to Capps, Project based learning is successful when there is an authentic audience, when the students are interested, when the project is centered around the community, and when the project has state approved content. In the "Project Based Learning Pt. 2" video, Capps says that everything will not go well in Project Based Learning. I agree with Capps because, like he said, parents will not always be in compliance with all projects. Project based learning is meaningful. It creates a fun environment in the classroom while learning. I plan to use project based learning in the classroom for learning and testing purposes.
In the video "iCurio," I learned that iCurio is a search engine that pulls media such as, photos, videos, and documents for kids that has been filtered for educational purposes. iCurio also also has a storage capacity that can be used for teachers and students. This allows the teachers and students to store valuable information. According to Capps, iCurio teaches virtual organization which is good for both students and teachers. iCurio saves searches so that the student can come back to their work. iCurio has a directory feature for historical searching purposes. iCurio has a large span of users beginning in elementary school and ending in high school. From watching the video, iCurio seems like a very beneficial searching method to use in the classroom.
In the "Discovery Ed" video, I learned that Discovery Ed develops illustration with words. This makes it easier for a student to learn. Discovery Ed covers subjects such as history and science. Discovery Ed is also used for student searches to enhance their research. Teachers also use Discovery Ed to bring texts to life using reading and visuals.
In the "Anthony-Strange Tips for Teachers" video, I learned some tips to becoming a teacher. Some tip for teachers are that teachers should be learners. Teachers must be avid learners. Teachers should allow their work to be a fun experience. Teaching never ends and it is a constant process which can be rewarding. Teachers have to be flexible and able to get all students engaged in learning.
In the video "Don't Teach Tech" I learned that technology is everywhere and necessary to learn in the classroom to improve learning. With the world being so tech savvy, it is important for students to learn  how to use this technology. Teachers should design projects and embed technology within the project rather than flat out teaching the students. According to Capps, do not teach technology, instead, introduce technology by giving them the opportunity to learn how to use technology on their own. Technology is fun to use so the students will willingly use it, therefore, the teacher won't have to  force them to learn it by teaching them. I agree with technology in the classroom because it opens creativity among the students giving them a chance to learn in a fun way.
In the "Additional Thoughts about Lessons" video, I learned that there a four components for teaching. The Lessons have to fit in the year. The units have to be divided into how much can get done in a week. Lastly, the daily lesson. How much can be taught in a day? How much can the students learn in that day?
